LIQFITS: Demands
~To build the bike from quality-parts that are interchangeable with parts already mounted on my other bikes. So that if this bike-project would fail or that the bike would prove unrideable, I still could use those parts for the other bikes. So it became a mixture of Shimano Tiagra (race) and Shimano Deore (mountainbike).
~ The frame and seat had to be make for my size (I am 1,85m / 6 ft, 80kg / 176 pounds.) 2 wheels equal in size, preferably 28 inch. Considering the fact that I didn't want a big distance between the ground and the seat.
~ The pedals should never hit the frontwheel.
~ No aluminum-frame: I personally don't trust the material in a structural role, and the weight saving would be minimal.
~ The chain should stay straight at all positions of the frontderailleur and the rearderailleur.
~ To use a standard steel frontfork, and to powdercoat it.
~Under-seat-steering, to have the grips on the spots where my hands relax on the steer.
~ If it would be possible, everything on the steer should be able to turn underneath the seat( extreme small turning circle).
~ No suspension.The comfort should come from the seat, the frame and the tires. This bike isn't meant for mountainbike.
~ No low-rider, I want to have an overview when I am on the road. Safety is more important then speed.
~ Stainless steel frame made from small diameter tubes. The frame should be light, but also tought and strong.
~ Construct the frame from multiple tubes.
~ An adjustable crankset that fits into two tubes.
~ Headset-angle and trailamount should be the same as my touring bike.
~ Short wheelbase to get a small diameter turning-circle.
~ Pedals that both would fit normal and spd-equiped shoes.
~ Alu seat, with Ventisit seat pad.
~ Construct a seat that would be strong enough that some bagage-bags can be strapped to its back. If necessary a luggagerack could be attached. Also if riding proves to be uncomfortable, the seat should be able to be the base for a suspensionsystem.
~ The size of the seat should rougly be the same as a standard Ventisit seat pad.
